The Ten Commandments of the Bacchus Cellar Wine Club
Early 21st century version, 19 April 2002
- Wine quality:
the ultimate goal of the Bacchus Cellar Wine Club is to enjoy
quality wine. In order to assure quality guest and participants
should only bring wine when it is clear that quality wine is
provided. We prefer if guests contribute financially instead of
bringing wine.
- Allowed drinks:
only wine and water is allowed to be consumed in the BC.
- Official membership:
The one and only selection criteria for new members is SOS
membership and a passion for wine. Friends of red wine are
preferred. The total number of official members should not
exceed 10. New members have to be approved unanimously by all
official members.
- Membership fees:
the initiation fee for official members in a life time is € 50,-
the yearly subscription fee for official members is € 10,-
- Guests:
A maximum of 10 official members and 5 guests should celebrate a
wine evening at one time in the Bacchus Cellar. Each official
member has the right to invite guests to a wine evening.
Invitation of guests should be communicated/coordinated in
advance.
In the Bacchus Cellar no wine evening should be celebrated
without at least 3 official members participating.
- Participation fees:
costs for food and beverages of each wine evening should be
divided by all participating members and guests. Exception:
international guest (international is defined as not working for
KDI/SPO, SOS Austria, Germany or Switzerland).
- Promotion of wine
evenings in the Bacchus Cellar (“Kutin clause”):
in order to prevent certain problems wine evenings in the
Bacchus Cellar should not be promoted in public. The President
of SOS has to be supported in his total unawareness of the
Bacchus Cellar.
- Termination of
function: BC wine club functions
are assigned by lifetime and can only be changed by unanimous
decision of all official members.
- Termination of
membership: official membership
terminates when a member leaves SOS or offends gravely against
the 10 commandments (assessment of offence by unanimous decision
of all official members).
- Changes to the ten
commandments: the ten commandments
can be changed only unanimously with the votes of all official
members.
