About Me
Station to station.
Born in 1961, I grew up in the beautiful town of Hall in Tyrol, Austria. I attended the Franciscan “Gymnasium” in Hall, where I studied, among other subjects, Latin and Greek. Back then, I could translate Homer, Ovid, and Caesar.
After school, I first earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science at the Technical University of .
An amazing experience was moving to Brazil for 18 months. I completed a one-year postgraduate course in Computer Science at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) in São Paulo state, and then worked for CEMICAMP, a medical research institute.
After returning to Austria, I began in health IT, advising hospitals and supporting the customization and sales of hospital information systems.
I later moved to the non-profit sector and became Director of ICT at SOS Children’s Villages International. With a great international team, I scaled ICT from a small department into a global service function, delivering more than a dozen standardised digital platforms for over 18,000 users across around 100 SOS member associations.
Along the way, I met my wife, and we are proud parents of two grown children.
